Big Heart Grant Highlight: It Takes a Village Okotoks
A fresh digital home for a community that cares
Some projects stick with you because of the people behind them and the difference they make in a community. Working with It Takes a Village Okotoks was exactly that kind of project. Their team supports families every day, and we had the chance to help them feel confident, capable, and connected online too.
Through our Big Heart Grant, we helped them create a new website that is easier to manage, more user-friendly, and fully reflects the heart of their mission.
The goal
The goal was clear. Move the website to a platform that makes day-to-day management simple, while giving the team the tools to update and grow their site without stress. We wanted the new site to empower the It Takes a Village team so they could focus on what they do best, supporting families in the Okotoks community, instead of worrying about technical challenges.
How We Did It
A platform that works for the team
We migrated the 12-page WordPress site to Squarespace, creating a setup that is intuitive and easy to update. This way, the team can make changes, add content, and manage the site with confidence without any coding required.
A redesigned homepage for clarity and connection
We gave the homepage a full redesign to highlight who they are, what they do, and how people can get involved. Visitors can now quickly find programs, donation options, and ways to connect with the team, all within a calm and welcoming layout.
Consistency and care across all pages
We updated every page for consistent styling, including fonts, colours, spacing, and visual elements. These details help create a polished, cohesive experience that feels professional, approachable, and thoughtfully designed.
Empowering the team with training
One of the most important parts of this project was making sure the team could confidently manage their new website. We delivered a hands-on, virtual training session recorded for future reference to walk them through updating content, managing pages, and using Squarespace’s features effectively.
A heartfelt collaboration
This project reminded us that design is not just about how a website looks. It is about creating systems and spaces that make meaningful work easier. With their new website, It Takes a Village Okotoks can focus on what matters most, helping families, building community, and continuing the incredible work they do every day.
